This week is Banned Books Week.  Celebrate your right to read this week by reading books that have been challenged and put on the banned books list.  Each year hundreds of books are challenged by adults who, with good intentions, feel they have a right to censor books for all of us. Many times it is parents who challenge books in school libraries.  The Library Bill of Rights states that parents have the responsibility to restrict access of information to their own children only---not to other parent's children or to institutions, such as libraries.  Visit the Media Center and check out some of the books that have been on the banned books list.  Be sure to read the posters in the hall outside the Media Center to read more information about banned books.  We dare you to read!
