Good luck to the 7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams as they take on Hillsboro tonight at home.  The games will take place at the high school with the 7th grade game starting at 6 and the 8th grade game starting at 7:15.

Two of Taylorville’s performances at IESA Speech Contest were awarded with overall Judge’s Choice Award. Congratulations to Molly Smith, Mylie Nation, and Hope Kietzman for their outstanding small group performance and to Jayce McMillon and Blaise Rogers for their performance of their hilarious original duet. 

 

Congratulations to the 7th and 8th grade girls basketball teams for their victories over Central A&M last night.  

 

Good luck to the 7th and 8th grade girls basketball teams tonight at home as they take on Mt. Zion.  7th grade game starts at 6pm followed by the 8th grade game.  It's 8th grade night so come out and cheer on your Lady Tornadoes!

Congratulations to Julie Wayman and Kavya Patel for their success in the Patriot’s Pen writing competition sponsored by the VFW. Julie placed first and Kavya placed third. Julie’s essay will move on to the Regional Competition. 

 

Speech Contest participants excelled at the IESA State Competition on Saturday at Sangamon Valley. Our school brought back 11 first place medals, 2 second place ribbons, and 2 third place ribbons. The following students participated in Speech Contest: Alexis Kleimola, Avalyn Franks, Serenity Young, Annabella Blue, Benjamin Becker, Haylee Braun, Emma Sneed, Jayce McMillon, Blaise Rogers, Hope Kietzman, Mylie Nation, Molly Smith.

The TJHS Student Council is once again hosting a Veterans Breakfast on Monday, November 7, 2022. Breakfast will begin at 7:45, after which there will be a short program.

 Students and their active or retired military family members (immediate) are encouraged to join us for the Veterans Breakfast. Please make reservations in the TJHS office at 217-824-4924 no later than Thursday, November 3, 2022. We will need to know the name of the veteran, the number of people in your group, the veteran’s branch of service, and any special accommodations that may be needed. We look forward to celebrating with you!

Monday, November 7th will be Patriot’s Day. Students are encouraged to wear red, white and blue.

School pictures will be taken today during pe hours. Please take your form with you to pe and give to the photographer.

The Student Council Dance will be October 28th. The 5th and 6th grade will attend from 5-6:30 and 7th and 8th from 7-8:30. The Dance is free and concessions will will be available. Only TJHS students will be able to participate.

All Students should check school email for the TJHS Booster Club Tornado Gear Fundraiser. There are some really great options for sweatshirts, t-shirts and long sleeve t-shirts!

Please remember that if you take out a kickball, basketball, or other equipment at recess, you are responsible for bringing it back in when recess ends.  Lots of equipment is being left outside after recess.  If it continues, students will no longer be able to take basketballs and other equipment outside. 

Please check the Lost and Found table for any items that you may have lost. Unclaimed items will be donated in the next few days.

Wrestling sign ups will be Monday, October 23 and Tuesday, October 24 from 6-7 pm at North School.

The TJHS student Council will meet today in the Hot Spot during 9th hour. Student Council members please check the StuCo Google Classroom for information.

 

The Christian County YMCA is hosting teen Center this Friday, October 21, from 6-10. Teen Center is open to all 6-8 garage students.
